What is Qigong?
Qigong (*pronounced "chee-gung"*) is a 5,000-year-old mind-body practice combining gentle movements, mindful breathing and meditation, to cultivate vitality.
Qi (Life Energy): The animating force in all living things. To be healthy we need clear and flowing Qi, like a mountain stream.
Gong (Practice): The transformative benefits of consistent, mindful effort.
Unlike intense exercise, it’s:
- Adaptable - safe for all ages and fitness levels
- Rooted in nature - echoing the flow of the natural world
- Holistic - balances physical, mental and energetic health

FAQ
"What should I wear?"
One of Qigong’s joys is its simplicity:
- Clothing: Loose, comfortable layers that let you move freely (avoid tight waistbands or sleeves).
- Footwear: Barefoot (ideal for grounding) or flexible shoes (like ballet flats or socks with grips).
- Mat: A yoga mat is optional but helpful if you are bare foot because other people who use the hall were outdoor footwear etc.
"Can I join if I have injuries or a chronic illness?"
Yes! Qigong is low-impact and modifiable for injuries or chronic conditions (e.g., arthritis, back pain, Parkinson’s). Just inform me beforehand so I can offer tailored adjustments.
"How will I feel after class?"
Most students leave feeling lighter, peaceful and energised—like a "moving meditation." Some notice deeper sleep or reduced aches after just a few sessions!
